Jacks was Codiscope’s flagship product. It was a developer tool that could scan code while it was being written, detect potential security vulnerabilities, and teach the user how to fix the problem, ultimately helping the user become a better developer.

The product was named after the classic game of jacks. The thinking was that the game of jacks has been around for a very long time, and people are aware of the game, but a lot of people don’t know how to play. Ultimately, one of the best ways to learn a game is to be shown how to play by someone who knows the rules, and through the action of playing with that person, you get better.

We applied this idea to the product. There are security concepts for software development that a person doesn’t know or understand right away, but can learn from an expert and become a better developer.

The logo represented the physical motion of bouncing jacks balls, as well as the action of scanning through code.
